Keep YOUR nutrition and fitness training simple! This aids you in having clear and lucid expectations and outcomes for your program. Yeah, that means keeping it somewhat plain, without the flash and bling.
It may sound great, and you may think it makes you look like an expert, jazzing up your nutrition and fitness training program with all kinds "cool" and "wow" difficult exercises, techniques, meal plans, etc., but in the end it just makes it harder for you to maintain it.
You can end up wearing yourself out just from the difficulty and stress of a detail heavy routine. Think real quick ... how many times have you run into someone counting calories with such exacting measurements and scientific determination that YOU get tired just watching and listening to them?? There are better ways! Simpler ways!
Now, don't get me wrong. There is a time and place to keep track and count things, but the point is you need to keep it real! Count only what needs to be counted, and do it loosely. If you're that worried about the extra calorie or two just go run a few extra laps around the local park.
