Knowledge ... the Plan, Benefits, Motivation, and Reason for Fitness Training!

Knowledge, from a fitness training perspective, involves knowing the following:

1.) Your Plan.

2.) Your Real and Potential Benefits.

3.) Your Motivation.

4.) Your Reason.

Knowledge is the "K" in our "BREAKFAST" plan!

So ...let's take a separate look at each of the four factors involved in knowing what we want out of our fitness training routine, and how we intend to achieve it! As you go through this exercise, think long and hard about where you are now, and then visualize where you want to be at some certain point in the near future (about 12-24 months).

As you proceed through all four of these "knowledge" points (plan, benefits, motivation & reason) you will make some decisions ... write it all down on paper! Think hard about what you believe is a reasonable time to achieve steps to that future state. Once again ... write it all down on paper! You will find it helpful to have these written goals or targets to refer back to on a frequent basis. They help you to know where you are and where you are headed.

Start with "Your Plan" - You need to have one!

It needs to be achievable. At "TEAM U" we recommend that you lay it out in small steps that can be easily measured and tracked. It is much better to achieve many small goals then to shoot for just a few BIG goals and find them hard or nearly impossible to hit. Set your system up so that you reward yourself often and you'll find pursuing your goals can be fun and exciting!

Next, know Your Real and Potential Benefits - You need to think about them!

Real are the ones you can clearly see, such as getting into better physical shape, your clothes fitting better than ever before, or having improved energy and stamina.

Potential are somewhat more elusive, such as determining that BECAUSE you have achieved real benefits of improved energy and stamina you are now able to participate in activities that were previously not within your capability.

Know Your Motivation - Only YOU know what it is!

At "TEAM U" we don't know what drives you, what makes you tick, what gets you to jump to action, what MOVES you! Only You can answer that one. This calls for a time of real reflection. Don't rush through this part. Take the time to now yourself and what you want out of your fitness training experience.

Finally, What's Your Reason?

Besides knowing what MOVES you to action, you also need to know WHY it does so! Are you doing this for yourself, for your "special someone", or perhaps you're doing this to get that next promotion? Whatever it is ...make certain that it is strong enough to carry you through over the long haul. In short, if it is not deep seated you may wander off target or give up.

Never QUIT ..... adjust as often as needed, but keep moving forward!!
